The Squid Game |
Few days after the start of showing its episodes on the Netflix platform, the South Korean series Squid Game or “The Squid Game” was on Google Trend, which encouraged the company that produced it to announce the preparation for a second season.
The 9-episode Squid Game is about a group of people who engage in a series of deadly games to win a prize money of 45.6 billion won (US$38.5 million).
In its events, the series reviews the unjust society in which the winner gets everything, with the spread of deception and violence.
The series “The Squid Game” achieved a new achievement by taking first place in the United States of America as the first South Korean drama that was watched during the past days, bringing the shares of the company producing the series by more than 70% during the past trading sessions, after the high rates of viewing the series, starring Lee. Jung Jae, Park Hye Soo, Wai Hye Joon, Oh Young Soo, Hyun Joong, and written and directed by Hwang Dong Hyuk.
South Korean art critic Jung Duk-hyun told "Korea Today" that the series uses games as a theme, but studies society and capitalism through those games.
He also said: "The reason why the character "Ki-hoon" played by actor Lee Jong-jae survived was not that he made good-faith decisions, but because of his good luck, and this is our reality
The rules are simple in our society, and there are winners and losers...but the problem is not who wins or loses, it's the environment in which the winner gets everything, and the loser stays with nothing".
It is reported that the series “The Squid Game” began filming in 2019, but due to the spread of the Corona virus, filming was stopped and completed again at the beginning of this year, and it was initially called “The Sixth Round” and was changed to “The Squid Game.”
